Measuring pressure on a hydraulic system: where do you start?

Troubleshooting starts with measuring. A short introduction to pressure measurement with Minimess test points and measuring units.

With a faltering hydraulic system, the first question is almost always: is the pressure correct? With Minimess test points you can measure safely on a pressurised system, without opening or disconnecting it. For a one-off check, a pressure gauge on the test point is sufficient. If you want to record pressure curves, peaks or behaviour under load, a measuring unit with data logging is the right tool. It also captures brief pressure peaks that you would never see on a gauge. Hydrotechnik measuring equipment is available from us both for sale and for rent. For a one-off fault investigation, renting is often the most economical choice.
